Ms. Hockfield, president emeritus and first female president of MIT brought a big change in direction to the Institute with her biology background.  Here she preaches to the lay audience her fervent hunch that the technology to help us manage the population- and climate-driven challenges of the century will come from a marriage of engineering and biology—a clear change from the technology of the past century that combined engineering and physics.
